Do you like my new digs?
You may have to re-subscribe – the migration of subscribers has not been going as planned.
Please know I 🖤 you.
Hi there. Mediadrome is now Stranger Sights – see this post for a bit more information on what led to the name change/redesign if you’re interested. The rebrand is official!! Unfortunately, it looks like my followers didn’t, umm, follow me, so you’re going to have to hit that ‘follow’ button again. Sorry, it was supposed to migrate everything, but didn’t quite do as promised. 😔
Initially I was a little bummed about feeling like I needed to do all of this, but although getting it back up and running has been a lot more work/a much bigger time-suck than I had anticipated, in the end I think it was totally worth it. I don’t know about you, but I think that everything about the new look is much nicer looking. What do you think? Do you like the new look? How about the new name?
I think it reflects me a little bit more accurately. I’m a gothy 80s baby who loves spooky business, and neon/vapor wave aesthetic. This new look really reflects all of that, and I’m eternally grateful to S. Bartle for all of the rad work he did on designing the new logo, all of the header/footer/background imagery, and the new post borders. I’m going to miss Mediadrome, I mean (clearly) that was a fucking great name. But I think this one is great too! As you may have noticed, I did migrate all of my old content over to the new site, so it’s almost like we’re still at home. I hope that makes the changeover feel a little easier.
Now that I’m in a prettier, more polished space, I want my content to reflect that. I’m going to continue to refine my post formatting and even my content. I’m definitely going to keep on with books as a primary source of what I write about, but I do want to get back into movies a bit more again since I kind of fell off on that, and I’d like to get more varied stuff in there too – maybe some academic-type stuff instead of straight reviews, maybe some music reviewing (did you know I collect vinyl?) and maybe some day even my own written content (short fiction type stuff). And at least until I feel like I’m back in the swing of things, I’m going to bump my posts back to twice weekly. 3 is nice, but it can get a little bit overwhelming.
And I promise I’m still doing that giveaway I keep mentioning as soon as we all settle in a bit, so expect that post to come up very soon.
Anyway, thanks for making the switch from Mediadrome with me, and I hope you continue to stick around. And if you’re new here and have no idea what I’m talking about, thank you too! I have two new posts for you to check out: Scanners & T. Kingfisher’s The Hollow Places.🖤🖤🖤🖤
I love ALL of this!! The site looks fantastic and I’m so impressed with all the work you’ve done here. Hopefully soon you can review my book (even though it won’t be strictly horror)… 🙂 Congratulations on your fabulous launch!!
Yayy!!! Shawn actually did all the graphics stuff. I just do the barely-coherent writing. Didn’t he do such a great job though? I JUST LOVE IT.
And yessss I want to review your book 🖤 I can’t wait!
Thank you for always being so wonderful and supportive and please know that I miss your beautiful face terribly!
I LOVE THE NEW LOOK SO MUCH!!!! It’s so bright and fun!
Yay, thank you so much!
