My Thoughts:

What a powerful collection Mine is. Since this is a collection of short stories, I’m not going to go into trying to tell you specifics of any of the content. But, before I even get into the meat of the book (this is body horror, Angie – ewww), I want you to know that there isn’t a bad entry in the bunch. They’re all fantastic and terrifying. And to make things even better, profits from the collection go to Reproductive Freedom for All (Formerly NARAL Pro-Choice America).

“On June 24, 2022, the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade deeming it illegal for womb-owners across the nation to make reproductive health care decisions for themselves. From the justified outrage came a deep desire to fight back. This sparked Mine: an Anthology of Body Horror with the intention to showcase the terrors associated when body autonomy is denied. The profits from this anthology will go to the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL)…”

This is not just a collection of stories either – there is some poetry as well (although it is mostly short stories). And they all deal with all of the triggers you might expect from a collection of body-autonomy horror: pregnancy, body horror, forced birth, etc. All trigger warnings can be found at the back of the book (THANK YOU CREATURE PUBLISHING).

There’s work from Stephanie Rabig (who is a personal favorite), JM Sedlock, Anne Gresham, Zack Zagranis, Kelly Brocklehurst, Marsheila Rockwell, and many more!

Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I can’t recommend this collection highly enough. It is every bit as horrifying as it should be.
