Well, I meant to post this yesterday, but…I’ve been really flagging in the writing motivation department lately. I’m working on getting back into the swing of things though, don’t you worry. But it’s Women in Horror Month 2020!!
Honestly, I’ve got no good excuse for slacking – it’s Women in Horror month, after all! I haven’t planned out much by way of content so far, but I just know it’s going to be great. In the next few days you can at least expect one movie article and a few book reviews to go up. After that, only time will tell.
You’ve probably already seen this on my Instagram (you follow me there, right?), but I have done some very cursory pre-planning. You can see I’ve got a few Laurell K. Hamilton Anita Blake unreads, The Lady from the Black Lagoonn By Mallory ‘Meara, The Monster of Elendhaven by Jennifer Giesbrecht, Winterwood be Shea Earnshaw (which seems horror-adjacent but please correct me if I’m wrong), Black Widow: No Restraints Play by Jen and Sylvia Soska, Other Voices, Other Tombs which is a collection of horror shorts featuring several by women, and Monster, She Wrote by Lisa Kröger.
I also have my kindle there, which is full of WIH choices. And on that note, can we talk about that cover for a moment? I made it the other day, and I couldn’t be more proud of the end result. It all came together seamlessly which almost never happens for me during craft projects. Every step of the way things were just coming up Millhouse. I am outrageously happy with it! Especially considering it was made entirely from fabric and ribbon that I already owned (you can’t see cuz it’s closed, but inside the edges of the fabric are trimmed in black ribbon, and there is a small hanging ribbon in the spine like you sometimes see in fancy books – it was pointless, but I think it looks cute).
But I digress…
Women in horror month is incredibly exciting because women are a large and extremely important part of the horror community, despite the fact that their contributions are often glossed over or even totally overlooked. So my commitment to you is that this month, that is ALL I will be talking about here (unless time-crunch stuff comes up via galleys or something, but I’ll try to avoid ones w/February pub dates unless they fall within these parameters). It may be movies, books, art, or technical stuff, but it’s all going to be Woman-Focused. I hope you’re ready!
