Snow, Glass, Apples is a chilling fantasy retelling of the Snow White fairy tale by bestselling creators Neil Gaiman and Colleen Doran.

My Thoughts:
Snow, Glass, Apples was absolutely beautiful. Doran’s art is marvelous – honestly the star of the show. I mean, the writing was wonderful (Gaiman’s writing often is), but the art was STUNNING. I really can’t overstate that enough.
As re-tellings of fairy tales go, this one is certainly among my favorites. The idea of Snow White being the evil one in the story is a great update. Stepmothers really got the short end of the story-stick, you know?
And this Snow is naaasty. She’s mean, and scary, and ruthless. And the Queen just wants to be free of her evil.
This is a really wonderful version of an otherwise pretty tired story (for me at least), and seriously, the art is so, so beautiful. It’s sort of art-deco-fantasy- horror and it is absolutely magical.

I read this in college and fell in love with it. It’s my favorite retelling of all time but I absolutely love the edition you have with the illustrations. I will need to get that for my library collection for sure. It looks absolutely breathtaking!
I mean, obviously Gaiman is an incredible writer, but Doran’s art is just…so beautiful… I actually picked it back up the other day just to re-look at all the art. It’s so detailed and gorgeous.
